Halsway Manor Society

The Halsway Manor Society is a registered Charity, number 247230 and a company limited by Guarantee number 849615.

The Halsway Manor Society Ltd was incorporated as a charitable trust in May 1965.

Its purpose is to promote and preserve traditional folk dance, music and song, and traditional arts and crafts, from England and other countries, and to operate the manor for those activities.

The Annual General Meeting 2011 was held at 2:15pm on Sunday 2nd October 2011 at Halsway Manor. The Chairman's Report, Annual Review 2011, agenda and financial statements for the financial year 2010-2011 are available below.

The Society is governed by a Board of Trustees who are also the Directors of the Company. Approximately one-third of the trustees are elected at the Society's Annual General meeting each year in October. At the first meeting of the Trustees after the AGM they appoint the Chairman and Finance Officer from among their own members and also the company secretary.

A separate trading company - Halsway Manor Ltd - has been set up to run the commercial events at the manor. All profits from the company are covenanted to the Society and are used to further the priorities and objectives of the Society. This allows us to separate the trading activities from the charitable ones while still ensuring that the charitable Society obtains the benefit of tax relief on the profits of the company.

The directors of the commercial company are appointed annually by the Trustees of the Society.
